Ceramides in cosmetics: What should we know about them?

Ceramides are lipid molecules found in high concentrations in the cell membranes of the upper skin.
They hold the skin cells together, creating a protective layer that also keeps moisture in the skin. They also act as a barrier against bacteria and environmental pollutants. Ceramides fall into the category of ingredients that complement our skin.

Because they are a natural part of our skin, the products are ideal for all skin types – even for the most sensitive skin prone to cracking, or for oily skin.
In cosmetics, ceramides are used to supplement natural lipids, which are lost when the skin is exposed to the environment impacts, after using wrong products on our skin and during the process of natural aging. Ceramides restore moisture, strengthen the skin's natural barrier and help to protect it from damage. They are also particularly effective in tackling problematic skin prone to eczema. People who have eczema or psoriasis have fewer ceramides in the outer layer of the skin compared to people with normal skin. There are up to nine different types of ceramides named 1 to 9.
Unfortunately, ceramide levels decline especially with increasing age. This is one of the reasons why the skin becomes older, wrinkles appear and it fights with dehydration. Even some cholesterol-lowering drugs can also change the levels of lipids in the outer layer of the epidermis. Diet also plays a role in this process. In particular, one that does not include essential fatty acids can disrupt the skin's natural barrier and lead to moisture loss.
A certain amount of fat in the diet is important for healthy skin. Not surprisingly, people with very low fat often have dry, scaly skin due to the loss of ceramides and other lipids that help retain water. Dietary fatty acids can be found in nuts, seeds, avocados and oily fish such as salmon.
Ceramides may not be as well-known and sought after as hyaluronic acid or collagen, but they are one of the most effective and important ingredients in skin care. They occur naturally in the human body and are part of the top layer of skin. In it, they help to "seal" moisture, maintain its strength and flexibility.
This amazing moisturizer, along with fatty acids, cholesterol, oils, amino acids and other ingredients, forms a skin barrier. It protects us not only from loss of hydration, but also from damage, bacteria, or inflammation. It plays an important role in maintaining healthy and fresh skin. Damage to the skin's natural barrier can cause skin irritation, hypersensitivity and even allergic reactions.
If you suffer from scales, dry skin or itching, ceramides will certainly help. The use of ceramide-containing products helps to replace lipids that have been lost due to constant dehydration, the negative effects of the environment, but also aging. They are important for every skin type, even with acne or the sensitive one, younger or older. With increasing age, the production of ceramides in the skin decreases and so does skin's ability to retain water. It naturally dries, loses its strength, wrinkles increase, it is more sensitive and loses a youthful appearance. In addition, dehydrated skin is prone to various damages and, in turn, damaged cells to the formation of pigment irregularities. Ceramides are extremely important for skin health and therefore need to be actively supplemented. Strengthen your skin with ceramide products and ensure its health and youthful appearance.
Since ceramides are so important for skin health, we decided to include them in our offer. This year, the AMPLE: N product line has been expanded with a skin serum and cream with ceramides.
Our AMPLE: N CERAMIDE SHOT AMPOULE serum contains, in addition to three types of ceramides, arctigenin (a patented ingredient) to strengthen, soften and protect the skin against free radicals. This unique serum includes several beforementioned ceramides, which effects are strengthened by other active ingredients. These form a unit focused on hydration, regeneration and strengthening of the skin with a preventive effect against the formation of pigment spots and various inflammatory reactions. The content of niacinamide in this serum brightens dull skin, brightens dark spots and evens out the skin tone. It regulates the formation of sebum, reduces pores and fine wrinkles, improves the elasticity and condition of the skin barrier. Arginine has a regenerative effect, it helps maintain the moisture in the skin, reinforces and strengthens it, and supports the formation of collagen. Glycerine with betaine, highly effective moisturizers, improve the skin barrier, provide protection against irritants on the skin and speed up the wound healing process. Adenosine activates skin cell renewal, and regenerates the skin, making it healthier and more radiant, and reduces the formation of unwanted pigmentation. Allantoin supports the formation of healthy tissue, leaves a feeling of smoothness and softness, and has an anti-inflammatory and healing effect. It repairs the skin barrier, and it makes the skin thicker and more resistant. It has a preventive effect against acne, redness and pigmentary irregularities. Macadamia oil provides the skin with a wide range of vitamins, fatty acids and minerals. Beta-glucan protects against the harmful effects of the external environment, supports the regeneration and production of collagen in the skin.

Complement your care with Ample: N CeramideShot Cream, which is, in addition to the above-mentioned active ingredients included in the serum, also enriched with squalene and shea butter. Squalene reduces wrinkles, moisturizes, has a calming effect and evens out the skin tone. Shea butter has an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effect and increases the hydrating effect of ceramides in the cream. It is loaded with vitamins and fatty acids that support cell regeneration, it soothes eczema and skin irritation.
