Free radicals

Today there is a lot of talk about free radicals, we read a lot about their negative effects on our skin and health. They affect our physical well-being, they affect our appearance. And since we all want to be in good shape, without pain and without visible signs of aging, let's talk a little more about what free radicals actually are, how to protect yourself from them, what to do....
Free radicals / oxidants the body creates continuously, they arise during normal metabolic processes, but their increased production is undesirable for our health. Now there will be a few lines of chemistry, but we will simplify it a lot.
Our body consists of cells, cells of molecules and molecules of atoms. We know from chemistry lessons that an atom consists of a nucleus and electrons, for which it is natural to be in pairs. Today, we already know many causes that cause oxidation (that is, the loss of an electron) - the "disintegration" of these pairs. The atom remains incomplete, a free radical / oxidant is formed. As we mentioned, the increased production of free radicals damages our health and negatively affects the healthy and youthful appearance of the skin. Their excessive formation is not only contributed by external causes, excessive exposure to sunlight, polluted environment, smoke from smoking, but they can also arise from internal causes, such as chronic inflammation or increased consumption of processed foods. Sunlight and long-term stress are a significant factor in the increased formation of free radicals. A significant amount of free radicals in the body on the one hand and a lack of antioxidants on the other creates the so-called oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is a serious condition and underlies excessive aging of tissues, under diagnoses such as e.g. Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, muscle and joint pain of various kinds, also affects our everyday moods, anxiety or depression. And how can we defend ourselves against the destructive effects of free radicals and protect our mental and physical health? How to effectively prevent accelerated aging? Simple answer - antioxidants. But do we know how, what they are and where to find them? As the name "Anti-oxidants" already says, these are molecules whose task is to neutralize oxidants/free radicals by replenishing the "lost electron". We have said that with an increased amount of oxidants and an insufficient amount of antioxidants, oxidative stress occurs, which accelerates the aging process.
The solution is very simple, even if it requires more effort in the beginning. We consciously avoid unnecessary, already mentioned, negative factors, external and internal causes of increased formation of radicals. By reassessing our lifestyle, let's put an end to smoking, polluted environment, increase our time in nature, and protect ourselves from the sun's rays. There will definitely be a way to slow down and reduce everyday stress. Another solution is conscious eating. Let's include as many foods containing antioxidants as possible in our menu. They are the best choice, the best way to protect yourself, your body and your health from the harmful effects of free radicals. Antioxidants slow down cell degeneration. After all, problems with veins, joints, vision or memory do not necessarily accompany our older age. Antioxidants strengthen the overall immune system, eliminate inflammatory processes in the body, protect against premature aging and delay its manifestations, strengthen our mental and physical health, and increase overall vitality. With the variety of the menu, we ensure a sufficient and diverse supply of the necessary vitamins, enzymes and the already mentioned antioxidants. Quality fruits, vegetables and nuts are a source of effective vitamin C, beta-carotene, lycopene, resveratrol and other vitamins and substances that have antioxidant effects. We think about their freshness and natural processing.
By including vitamin serums, hydration and nutritional preparations with an antioxidant effect in the daily routine, we will actively reduce the action of free radicals and restore regenerative processes in the cells.

Summer tempts us to expose ourselves to the sun's rays, let's not forget to include creams with a protective factor in our skin care routine. At first glance, many of us think that a protection factor of 50 is too high, but now that we know about the negative effects of free radicals it is time to rethink our protection against UV radiation.
Do we really want to trade an unhealthy, low-factor quick tan for youthful-looking skin?
