Shea butter is a fat obtained from the nuts of the shea tree at high temperatures. It is stiff and off-white or ivory in color. Shea trees are native to West Africa and most of the shea butter comes from this area.
Shea butter has been used as a cosmetic ingredient for centuries. Its high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids – combined with an easy-to-spread consistency – make it a great product for smoothing, soothing and conditioning the skin.
