Skin care in February

Author: Temperance    Date: 28.1.2025

Skin care during February in Slovakia is affected by cold weather, dry air and low humidity, which can dry out the skin and weaken its protective barrier. During this period, it is important to focus on hydration, protection and regeneration of the skin. Here's a step-by-step guide to proper skin care for women and men of all ages:

Morning skin care

1. Skin cleansing
Use a gentle cleansing gel, foam, cream or lotion that does not strip the skin of its natural oils. Avoid products containing alcohol, which can dry out the skin even more. https://www.temperancesk.com/cleansing-milk-and-oil/  https://www.temperancesk.com/cleansing-foam-and-gel/

2. Toning
Tonic/Toner/Skin - helps restore the pH of the skin, balances it and prepares it for further absorption of active substances from other products - for further basic skin care. Choose an alcohol-free hydrating or soothing toner. https://www.temperancesk.com/skin-toner/

3. Serum
Use a hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid or vitamin C. Hyaluronic acid locks in moisture, while vitamin C protects against free radicals and evens skin tone. https://www.temperancesk.com/serum-and-essence/

4. Eye cream
Apply a small amount of eye cream to hydrate and reduce puffiness or dark circles. https://www.temperancesk.com/eye-cream/

5. Day cream
Apply a nourishing and moisturizing day cream with ingredients such as shea butter, ceramides or glycerin. If you have oilier skin, choose a lighter gel cream or skin emulsion, which is loaded with the same active ingredients as the cream, but in a lighter form - i.e. more suitable for mixed or oily skin. https://www.temperancesk.com/cream-and-emulsion/

6. Protection factor (SPF)
Even in winter, it is important to protect the skin from UV radiation. Use a day cream or standalone product with SPF 30 or higher. UV radiation can cause premature skin aging even on cloudy days. https://www.temperancesk.com/spf/

Evening care

1. Makeup removal and cleaning
If you use makeup or SPF, start with a two-step cleanse:

2. Exfoliation (1-2 times a week)
Use a gentle scrub or chemical exfoliant with AHA/BHA/PHA acids to remove dead cells. In winter, do not overdo the exfoliation, so as not to weaken the skin's protective barrier. https://www.temperancesk.com/peeling/

3. Tonic
As in the morning, apply a hydrating or regenerating tonic. https://www.temperancesk.com/skin-toner/

4. Serum or essences
In the evening, you can use a serum with collagen, vitamins, nutrients (anti-aging) or peptides (for regeneration, cell renewal and strengthening). If the skin is delicate, thin and prone to various skin reactivities, choose a soothing serum with centela. https://www.temperancesk.com/serum-and-essence/

5. Night cream or oil
Finally, apply a thicker night cream that will support skin regeneration during sleep. https://www.temperancesk.com/estheroce-eclair-de-blanc-facial-oil/

Additional tips:

  • Hydration of the body: Drink enough water even during the winter to keep the skin hydrated from the inside.
  • Humidifier: Dry air from heating can irritate the skin. Use a humidifier indoors.
  • Masks (1-2 times a week): Use moisturizing facial masks containing hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, seaweed or oils.
  • Nutrition: Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (fish, nuts, seeds) and vitamins A, C, and E, which support skin health.
