Black Pearl

Black pearl extract is a firming and brightening ingredient that should not be missing in skin care.

Black pearls or Tahitian pearls are beautiful organic gems created by the "Black Lipped" oyster. Interestingly, they never have a true black color. Instead, they can be blue, purple, green, brown or silver, but they are always very pretty.

In the past, pearls were mainly used in jewelry or various decorations or home accessories, but nowadays they also have their place in cosmetics. It has nourishing and anti-wrinkle properties.

In mythology, black pearls were considered a symbol of prosperity and wealth. In metaphysics, they were known for their cleansing and healing properties.

Where do black pearls come from?

Black pearls - Tahitian, come from the area around Tahiti - French Polynesia - exactly as their name implies. The pearl oyster Pinctada Margaritifera is a mollusk belonging to the family Pteriidae and pearl formation can take 2 to 3 years.

Black pearls are formed like any other pearl when a grain of sand gets stuck in the body of an oyster. It can taint the oyster from the inside, and subsequently, together with the calcium carbonate, it will harden over time and form the coveted pearl. The pearl is made of the same iridescent iridescent substance that oysters use to line the inside of their shells. This creates different color combinations.

The inner shell of most oysters is either white or silver. However, the inside of the black pearl has a thick black band and the color closer to this band is darker.

Black pearl in cosmetics?

Our skin ages naturally, but as we at Temperance say, it should age gracefully. We will achieve this if we take proper care of it.

To alleviate or slow down the aging process, let's reach for the black pearl.
In cosmetics, they are crushed and micronized into powder, which is then added to cosmetic products.
The benefits of pearl powder in promoting and maintaining the skin's youthful appearance were discovered thousands of years ago. There are reports that date its use back to ancient Chinese medicine and the Tang Dynasty.

Among the main advantages of the black pearl we recommend:
✔ skin nutrition
✔ brightening
✔ strengthening
✔ hydration
✔ anti-wrinkle effect
✔ elasticity support
✔ antioxidant effect
✔ thorough cleaning

Active ingredients of black pearl?

Pearl extract is known to have a brightening effect and improve the skin's natural glow. The main reason is that it consists of up to 18 amino acids, which smooth fine wrinkles and moisturize the skin. The skin is thus smoother, more beautiful and healthier.

It also contains polysaccharides, which are a natural component of the skin that can retain moisture, help improve skin elasticity, and potentially contain antioxidant properties. Thanks to its antioxidant effects, it protects the skin from free radicals and the harmful environment.

It contains a higher proportion of calcium, which again helps to hydrate the skin, strengthen, smooth and brighten the appearance of the skin.

The black pearl balances the skin tone, brightens it and slows down the production of the enzyme "tyrosinase", which affects the development of melanin. This causes unwanted uneven pigmentation.

Pearl powder offers many benefits for the skin: healing, firming, brightening, antioxidant effect, cell support and renewal, improvement of elasticity, skin detoxification, protection against free radicals, skin smoothing and natural shine.

Black slug

Many of us have a strong aversion to snail slime. So, if you see a snail crawling freely on the sidewalk, you certainly don't have the immediate urge to spread its slime on your skin... But that may change if you learn more about this fascinating substance.

Snail filtrate, secretion, slime or, more professionally, snail mucin - is one of our most popular ingredients in our products. You ask why?
When we were at meetings in Seoul, South Korea, we were able to test various "goodies" from the beauty industry, because Koreans are known for constantly innovating and improving what they can.

It is known that snail slime appears in cosmetics, especially for its anti-aging properties, it is also known to be excellent for damaged or acne-prone skin.

South Korea has included snail slime in its creams, serums, waters and other products, and some salons even offer direct snail treatments on the customer's face.

A short history lesson
It is said that snail slime was already used in ancient Greece to help with diseases such as indigestion or cough, but also with skin inflammations. Also in South America, local farmers during various peelers of their crops noticed that if they let the snails crawl freely on their legs or hands, which had been damaged by the peeler, these small scratches or wounds healed much faster and left no traces of damage. skin to scars.

What exactly is snail slime?
What exactly is the function of snail mucus?

It is mucus produced by the snail as it crawls. It is mainly a protection against drying out of their tissue. This mucus basically covers the snail's body and forms its overall protection.
It's incredibly multi-functional, helping snails navigate rough surfaces, distracting predators, and even helping them find their way home. It is sticky, so it helps them stick to surfaces better and they can also crawl on walls, plants or other vertical objects. Snail mucus is formed on the entire surface of the snail as a type of protection and increases when the snail is in distress. This method of obtaining snail slime is most often used in cosmetics. That is it is not at all unpleasant or dangerous for the snail, only the natural environment is used.

Snail slime contains:
Proteins
Hyaluronic acid
Peptides
Glycolic acid
Antimicrobial substances
Elastin fibers
Antioxidant substances

All substances are beneficial for our skin.

Many claim that snail secretions on the skin stimulate the skin to produce collagen, elastin, and other components that are believed to lead to clearer skin while fighting signs of aging and sun damage.

Snail filtrate contains allantoin, which helps in cell regeneration and restoration of damaged skin.

The black snail is larger and much more rare because it contains a higher proportion of active substances.

While there are no clearly documented risks of using snail slime, it's definitely not a good idea to try the DIY version of getting slime from garden snails! Without proper control and hygienic conditions, you can get more than you would like (e.g. bacterial infection). So don't go and catch critters from your garden and don't let them slide across your face. And of course, with any new beauty product, test a small amount of the product first to see how your skin reacts.

Black tea
Do you know that black tea was discovered about 5000 years ago in China? It belongs to one of the most popular drinks in the world. Many people start their day with black tea instead of coffee. Perhaps they understood its endless benefits. To name a few - it keeps you energetic, focused and active throughout the day. It is full of antioxidants and various phyto-nutrients that are known to flush out toxins from our body. In addition, the tea is also good for relieving upset stomach and headache; it's something we've all experienced.
