Eye area care

The skin around the eyes is a part of our body that can also show signs of premature aging, especially without proper care. But have you ever wondered why?
First, the skin around the eyes is thinner and softer than the skin on other parts of the body. And because your eyes work all day, from blinking to expressing your emotions, it can in itself cause premature aging sooner than we would like.

Genetic reasons, ultraviolet (UV) rays, external stressors and the wrong lifestyle can also accelerate the aging of the skin around the eyes. The most common problems include circles under the eyes, mimic wrinkles, deeper wrinkles or swelling. No matter how old you are, it is never too early or too late to give your eyes the care they deserve.

We have summarized some tips for you that will help you with proper care of the eye area

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Skin hydration is one of the underestimated steps that often falls to the  wayside, but it shouldn't. Think of our skin as grapes. When it loses water, it begins to dry out, so first wrinkles and imperfections may appear.

The most common question about hydration is whether you can apply the same cream to both the face and the skin around the eyes. The answer is yes.
If it doesn't irritate your eyes and gives you enough hydration, that's fine. However, it should be borne in mind that the skin around the eyes sometimes has different requirements and also the consistency is different in case of skin and eye creams. As the skin around the eyes is thinner, it might be sensitive to regular face cream. If you feel a sting or your eyes are red, do not use regular face cream and invest in eye creams instead.
Eye creams are often formulated with ingredients that are less likely to have adverse effects on your eyes and contain enough active ingredients that can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, dark circles or swelling.

Choose the right composition!
When looking for the right eye cream, it is important to know which ingredients to look for based on what you are trying to solve. Below you can find the ingredients we suggest to choose based on your preferences.

Wrinkles: gold, ceramides, vitamin A, macadamia, argan, jojoba, wetland oil, pearl powder, peptides, hyaluronic acid
Bags under the eyes: arbutin, vitamin C, soy, niacinamide (vitamin B3)
Swelling: caffeine, green tea, peptides, willow extract, haloxyl

Not sure? Choose versatile helpers!
If you also want to protect the skin around the eyes, look for antioxidants, for example. These strong ingredients help with removing free radicals in the skin that are caused by UV radiation, smoking and pollutants. In addition, they can also slow down the aging process.

Always be gentle!
From removing makeup to applying products to the skin around the eyes, it is important to always be gentle. As mentioned above, the skin around the eyes is very thin and sensitive. For this reason, additional pressure can potentially contribute to the formation of fine lines. When removing makeup from the skin, use gentle tampons and strokes. Especially in the case of eyes, it is important to just gently apply the tampon, wait until the make-up remover gently dissolves all the impurities and then wipe them gently downwards.

Sun protection is a must!
Exposure of the skin to sunlight can play a major role in the aging process of the skin and can also lead to pigment spots. Sunscreen is an essential part of your daily routine and should be applied every day before we go out. Even though the weather is gloomy outside, the sun's rays can still cause damage. Also, don't forget the top eye lid. The lid is one of the most overlooked areas when it comes to applying sunscreen.

Treat yourself to a massage of the eye area!
In addition to some genetic factors, fluid retention or lack of sleep can cause swelling around the eyes. It can also be the result of eating a high-salt meal or even sleeping too much. Eye massage can help improve blood circulation. Massage pressure can also help "move" excess fluid in the area and reduce swelling.

Sleep, eat well, exercise!
When it comes to changing your life habits and protecting the skin around your eyes, we truly believe that what happens inside is reflected on the surface. Therefore, do not forget how important it is to indulge in more quality sleep, exercise, physical activity and also to follow a proper eating and drinking regime.

Summer and warmth?
Summer has put our eye area to the test. Sunlight, narrowed eyes and often a lack of care have been reflected on this delicate skin. It is a common mistake to wait unnecessarily with the cream until the wrinkles become visible. Believe it or not, even in this case, it is easier to prevent wrinkles than to get rid of them. Not only deep wrinkles deserve our attention, but also the beginning of fine "wiping legs".

Why do wrinkles appear?
They are part of natural aging. However, this is only one of the reasons for their creation. The appearance of wrinkles is influenced by many more factors. Both external and internal factors affect our skin. The external ones include, for example, poor lifestyle, stress, smoking, or various chemicals. In the summer, especially during frequent sunbathing, our skin is exposed to regular sunlight, which significantly contributes to skin aging and the formation of wrinkles, especially around our eyes. Often narrowed eyes and insufficient care can very quickly affect the formation of wrinkles around them, as this skin is very soft. Wrinkles around the eyes often occur as a result of dry, dehydrated skin.
Another important factor is facial expressions. We do not realize some bad habits in the form of certain "grimaces" and we unknowingly harm our skin. Inheritance (genetic predispositions) as well as changes in hormone levels also affect the formation and area of wrinkles. With reduced hormonal activity, the skin becomes less elastic, wrinkles appear around the eyes, mouth and between the eyebrows.

How to repair the damage?
The one and most important rule is regularity and consistency. Our shelf could be "decorated" with the best cream, but it is useless if we use it only once in a while.
Care begins with a suitable cleanser designed directly for the eye area. Apply a cotton swab with make-up remover to the eyes and leave on for a few minutes. Then gently clean the eyelashes and the whole area thoroughly, without unnecessary stretching.
And we can go for the next step – applying the eye cream.
Let's not forget that the skin is very soft, and it is necessary to adjust the application of the eye cream itself, which you just gently tap into the skin. Avoid sharp movements and unnecessary stretching, as this weakens the eye area, creates wrinkles and accelerates the appearance of aging. Apply eye cream twice a day (morning and evening)

Regular creaming of the eye area prevents it from drying out and highlighting wrinkles. Protect your eyes from UV radiation with high-quality sunglasses, thus preventing unnecessary squinting and deepening of "wiping feet". Avoid unnecessary friction of the eyes during the day. Remember that your diet and lifestyle affect not only the overall health, but also the appearance of your skin.
